Volunteers

Our volunteer applications are now open for our 2012 convention! Please read below to make sure volunteer work is truly right for you.

What Do Volunteers Do?

Volunteering for a convention gives a selection of things a volunteer can do. Currently the following positions are being filled, but there could always be more.

*Security (subject to application and interview process).
*Registration (previous convention experience requested).
*Badge Checkers (everyone is eligible).
*Runner/Gopher (everyone is eligible).
*Assistant (subject to application, interview process, and availability).

Why Should People Volunteer?

If there were no volunteers at a convention there would be no convention. Staff members are barely keeping up with their own part of the event and need volunteers to help them or everything will fall apart (because we can't do everything ourselves, even if we would like to)!

There are many benefits to volunteering at an Anime Convention, which include but are not limited to:

*Community Hours (clubs more than welcome to apply).
*Financial Benefits (dependent on how many hours volunteered; full refund of badge cost possible with discount on Shuto Con merchandise).
*Meeting People (often this group becomes more like a family).

What are the Benefits of Volunteering?

- For every two shifts worked (4 hours), a volunteer earns a drawing prize ticket for our Opening/Closing
Ceremonies. Extra chances to earn extra prizes!
- Upon working five shifts (10 hours), a volunteer earns HALF of their bought badge refunded! (VIP refund is
equal to half the price of a 3-day badge).
- At eight worked shifts (16 hours), a volunteers earns a FULL refund of their bought badge! (VIP refund equal
to price of 3-day badge).
- After ten shifts (20 hours), a volunteer is also rewarded a $5-off coupon for Shuto Con swag and an entry
to become the Most Valuable Volunteer of the year!
- Club/Government community hours are available!
